Code of Conduct

Sandringham Yacht Club is one of the premier yacht clubs in Australia, and as such enjoys a reputation around the world.

Membership of SYC is a privilege and carries with it a responsibility to uphold our reputation at every opportunity and not to engage in conduct that brings the Club and other members into disrepute or is contrary the Constitution and By-laws of SYC

There are many stakeholders in Sandringham Yacht Club and members & visitors of SYC have a duty to ensure that they cause no adverse impact on any of these stakeholders as a result of their actions at SYC or in the wider environment.

Members & Visitors must behave in a manner that facilitates, enhances and ensures the:

  1. reputation and standing of SYC
  2. amenity of other members of SYC
  3. health, safety and comfort of staff employed at SYC
  4. enjoyment of visitors to SYC
  5. physical property and facilities provided by SYC

Members & Visitors shall not engage in conduct that:

  1. breaches accepted standards of public behaviour
  2. jeopardises the health and safety of members, staff, and visitors
  3. causes offence to members, staff and visitors
  4. lessens the amenity and enjoyment of members, staff and visitors
  5. damages, destroys, or lessens the value of SYC assets
  6. damages, destroys, or lessens the value of property owned by other Club members

Any member bringing the Club into disrepute may be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with Clause 34 of the SYC Constitution.

Any visitor breaching this code may be asked to leave the premises. Any visitor who does not recognize or demonstrate an ongoing understanding of this code of conduct will be asked to stay away indefinitely.
