Junior Training Policy
1.0 Overview
For all Junior Training, Coaching and on water activities conducted at the Sandringham Yacht Club.Off the Beach Sailing Centre.
2.0 Casual Sailing or training policy
Any casual sailing or training by juniors on non race days must be under full supervision and consent of the parents.
The Yacht Club does not provide effective rescue capability on non race days.
3.0 Training with coaches or supervisors
3.1 All coaches & supervisors shall apply in writing to the SYC Boating Dept. to operate at Sandringham YC. Registration will be required annually and final approval will be given by the OTBSC Committee.
3.2 All coaches & supervisors shall provide and maintain a list of trainees participating in their programs to the SYC Boating Dept. The list shall include full contact details and SYC member’s number.
3.3 All coaches & supervisors shall provide timetable of training sessions to SYC Boating Dept.
3.4 Coaches are responsible for the safety of their training group.
4.0 Sailing Area’s
Supervised training groups are expected to sail within sight of the SYC tower. No further south than the Anonyma Shoal or North of Green Point
5.0 Safety
The fundamental rules as per the AYF Racing Rules of Sailing shall apply at all times for both racing and other sailing and boating activities from Sandringham Yacht Club. In particular please note Fundamental rules 1.1 & 1.2 :-
Please Note:-
1. Each Sailor must wear the correct personal buoyancy at all times.
2. All boats must carry the required safety equipment.
3. In the event of a capsize; a sailor is not to leave their boat.
6.0 Time Limit.
All boats must be ashore no later than when the bottom of the sun touches the horizon. Sailing is only to be conducted in daylight hours.
