As skipper I began sailing about 30 years ago. I bought my first yacht a Noelex 25 “Air Supply” in 1985. It was followed five years later by a Beneteau 32.7 called “French Kiss’, and then five years later followed a Lidgard 36 with a great race history called “Devil Woman” which I renamed “FUN AND GAMES”.
“Fun and Games” was built in NZ by Lidgard in 1992 as a fast ocean cruiser racer and it excelled in ocean races in Queensland in 1993/4. I bought her in 1995 and she has served me well for 13 years and her name appears on many SYC trophies. In the early days we competed in numerous ocean races including the Sydney to Hobart in 1999 but I have now lost interest in those races and stay in Port Philip Bay.
In 2002 her rig was updated to swept back spreaders, non overlapping headsails and no runners. She is now far easier to sail and quicker. “Fun and Games” today is still a very modern design and very competitive. Down below she has a very spacious interior with full head room and bunks to sleep 8 crew. The galley includes a 4 burner stove with oven and grill, a fridge and 2 huge ice boxes.
Today I enjoy sailing in the bay, club races and especially Wednesday Wonders. When I am not sailing I look forward to good food and good wine, golfing and caravanning with my lovely wife Denise.
Should you read this I invite you to join me for a sail one Wednesday when the weather is nice.
