Fishing Competition - 25th October 2007

Sandringham Yacht Club Fishing Comp Sunday 21st Oct 2007.
With 17 boats registered all eyes were on the weather as our weary competitors headed for their favorite snapper feeding grounds in the early Sunday morning light. From outside the heads to nearby Brighton our fishing group faced calm conditions until the Northerly freshened mid morning to make things interesting.
Fortunately for some they picked the right spot, aboard yacht’s, Riviera’s and a few trailer boats our fleet had plenty of time to tell a few stories and lies over lunch.
It was Greg Well’s boat ‘Imagination’ who fared best with four Snapper tipping the scales to nearly nine kg.s, Tom Hall had the best fish a little beauty of 3.28 kg.
Tom won first prize, dinner for two at the Breakwater Bar and Grill, thanks to
Sandringham Yacht Club.
Pieter DeVries won a new Snapper outfit for his effort of 2.25 kg, in second place.
Phil Tainton picked up third place and a new snapper outfit with his fish 2.20. kg’s.
Many thanks for JV Marine who supplied the new rods and reels and also some fine sample bags. Judy Greasley won the ladies with a truly novel fish.
Lunch was a delight at the Ken King Centre. A true gourmet style BBQ finely cooked by the ‘Stubbs’, ‘Gall’, and Greasley family’s was a real treat. A big thank you to Jackson’s Marine for our lunch with nearly 50 people attending.
Many thanks to our other members of the Power Boat Committee and families for putting this event back on the map. Sandringham Yacht Club, Fishing Comp. “ It’s Catchy”
