SYC 2007/8 Summer Series Champions - 14th April 2008
SYC 2007/8 Summer Series Champions Saturday 12th April was the final day on the SYC summer series calendar, with the final 2 aggregate races scheduled running back-to-back. The weather provided ideal conditions to participants, with a shifty 10-15kn Westerly that kept all tacticians busy as it died and shifted around to the South West, then into the South leaving a nasty choppy sea.
In the morning race, Goldfinger took out IRC Div 0, whilst Rob Sill's INSX has a great race winning Div 1 IRC and YV, whilst Absolut won Div 1 AMS. In Div 2, Watermark II performed very well to win IRC & AMS, whilst Stitched Up won YV. In Division 3, Lowa Paszko's Rhiannon won AMS and Ian Hetherington's Decisive won YV.
In the afternoon race, Chris Dare's Flirt took out Div 0 IRC, whilst Mike & Mark Welsh's Alien won Div 1 IRC. Don & Helen Cameron in Smooth Criminal sailed extremely well in the tricky conditions to win Div 1 AMS and YV. In Div 2, Ash Trebilcock & Jenny Vickery in Frequent Flyer had a strong performance winning YV and AMS, whilst Young Lion won IRC. In Div 3, Intrusion continued its dominant performance winning AMS & YV.
The SYC Summer Series comprised 16 races from October to April, including Range Series and SYC trophy events. Provisional results saw the following as SYC Club Champions for 2007/8:
