Bruce Eddington finishes 10th in Mumm 30 Worlds - 6th October 2008

SYC's immediate past Commodore Bruce Eddington has finished 10th at the Mumm 30 World Championships in Newport, Rhode Island USA.

Bruce and his crew on Southern Star put together a good series against top crews from around the world. Despite suffering a whack on the head on Day 2 that required a hospital visit and 16 stiches, and kept Bruce ashore for the day, the crew rallied to take 1st place in Race 7 in challenging, heavy conditions. The final day was held in Narraganset Bay to provide some protection from the waves left over from the strong winds of Day 3, and was held in 7-14kn winds. Southern Star placed 3rd in the first race of the day, but could not hold onto the leaders in the last 2 races of the day, placing 15th and 11th.

Other Aussie, Sydney's Guy Stening on Optimum took out the championship from local Jim Richardson on Barking Mad and Vincenzo Onorato on Mascalzone Latino.

Congratulations to Bruce and his crew.
