SYC'S COUGAR II TAKES OUT 2008 LIPTON CUP
This weekend SYC boats dominated the Grand Prix division of RYCV's Lipton Cup Regatta, with Alan Whiteley's COUGAR II taking the honours in IRC with results of 1-8-1-1 across the 4 races. Held across Saturday and Sunday, with a mixture of short-course racing followed by a long, fixed marks course on Sunday, the fleet were faced with good breezes on both days.
In the Grand Prix division, comprising a mixture of Division 0 and Division 1 boats, SYC boats took out the top four IRC spots with COUGAR II winning from CHALLENGE, AUDI CENTRE MELOURNE and GEORGIA. In AMS, JUST A MINOR HICKUP from RBYC won from CHALLENGE, and the new First 45 REVERIE, also from RBYC. In Performance Division, SYC boats again took out the top 2 places, with AUDI CENTRE MELBOUNRE winning from GEORGIA, with AUDACIOUS from RBYC 3rd.
There were very few SYC boats in the other divisions, and RYCV boats controlled the results. In Division B, SURPRISE took out IRC, TOP GUN won AMS and GIENAH from RMYS won Performance. In Division C, FOOTLOOSE won the AMS & IRC double, and DEJA VU won Performance. Division D was won by DRAMBUIE.
