Good Morning WISC Teams,

What an exciting lead up to Sunday's first race.

Last Wednesday night we had the last of our training series- "Race starts and strategies"- by Rosi Colahan from RBYC. Rosi did a fabulous job in presenting to us how to be prepared for a race, discussing topics ranging from weather, knowing your flags and the start sequence, to getting to the line and racing. Great night, thank you Rosi.

A big "THANK YOU" to all of you who came along to the training nights and to the presenters.

Sunday 12th October: RACE # 1:

The forecast Northerly of 20/30 knots began to fill in as people were rigging up their boats in the marina, so it promised to be a vigorous day, and so it was.

18 entries lined up for the start of the race, a great turn out - the race committee boat was on station, and after monitoring the weather for some time, decided they could get 1 or 2 races in.

With the wind hovering around 25kts or so, the cobwebs were soon blown away, and the crews sorted themselves out fairly quickly. The weather mark on the first leg was interesting to say the least, with some very close roundings ensuing.

A couple of boats were brave enough to fly kites on the downwind leg, most had poled out jibs.

There were a few incidents on the boats, Can Can almost put their MOB into place when one of their crew member went flying over the rails whilst leaning on the boom- lucky a quick thinking crew member grabbed her mid flight and kept her on board.  Boots did not finish the 2nd race, and other boats broke a few bits, but otherwise all well.

Thank you to Graeme Watt- RO and his team.
