OTB Dinghy Storage Policy and Procedure
POLICY:Boat Storage within Off The Beach Sailing Centre (OTBSC) is a privilege and not a right. Only boats with a current storage sticker may be stored in the OTBSC facility. Storage may be made available upon application to the OTBSC Committee, with preference for SYC Junior, Senior Members who regularly use their boats and participate in Club events and for classes sponsored by the club.
The storage period is from 1st September – 31st August of each year.
Applicants must demonstrate a history of racing in club program events.
Boats stored at the club may have their storage concluded for failing to race regularly in Club events.
No boats are to be stored or left on the lawn.
Road trailers are not to be stored at the club.
Boats &/or trailers left within OTBSC without an approved application for storage will be impounded.
PROCEDURE:
Members applying for Boat Storage (Boat on Trolley) must register their request with the SYC Boating Department. Members must qualify for boat storage as per the the formula in Schedule 1 for the available spaces for their preferred class of boat. Rack selection will be based solely on maximum points.
The SYC Boating Department will keep a register of;
- Members Name & Membership Number
- Boat type and Sail Number
- Contact details
The SYC Boating Department will;
- Forward the application for storage to the next meeting of the OTBSC Committee.
- The OTBSC Committee shall review the application and either grant or decline storage to the Applicant.
- If storage is granted to the applicant, the OTBSC Committee or delegates shall allocate a specific storage space for the member and advise the member of these details.
- Space allocations are not transferable.
The Member shall;
- Pay the appropriate storage fee prior to commencement of storage. Storage fees will be paid annually.
- Upon receipt of Storage fees, The Member shall receive a Boat Storage sticker for the season, which must be placed on the Hull or the Trolley in a clearly visible position.
- Agree to remove his or her boat within four weeks of a written request sent to the address as per the Club mailing list. Failure to remove the boat for any reason, shall initiate automatic transfer of ownership of the boat to SYC.
- Acknowledges that failure to use their boat regularly in club events may lead to the forfeiture of their storage rights, without refund of the fees.
ANNUAL STORAGE FEE TABLE
Fees due for the 2008-09 season by membership type:
- Junior: $40.00
- Senior: $100.00
- Other: $250.00
Schedule 1
Storage space will be allocated per sponsored class space allocation to members with a maximum of points gained as per the following:
Members will be allocated the following points over a rolling 5 year period
- 10 Points for each race day entry
- 20 Points for each Duty Day
- 20 Points for each Working Bee attendance
- 10 points for each year of SYC membership (max 5 years)
- 100 points for Life, Senior, & Junior Membership per year
At the end of each Financial Year, 1000 points will be deducted and 1000 points will be added when fees have been paid.
