Marina By Laws

7.1 Only craft in seaworthy condition will be admitted to the Marina, or any part of the areas or waters within the Marina. Occupants of the Marina shall keep their craft in such condition that it does not become unsightly or dilapidated or reflect unfavourably upon the reputation and appearance of the Marina. Any craft found to be in contravention of this By-law will be requested to vacate the Marina.

7.2 Craft within the Marina shall be registered, identified, equipped and maintained as required by law and safe practice, with particular attention to adequate fire fighting equipment.

7.3 When a craft enters the Marina it shall immediately come under the jurisdiction of the Club and shall be berthed and manoeuvred only where directed.

7.4 Boat owners who are not Licensees of berths within the Marina and who wish to berth their craft in the Marina, other than in designated Visitors Berths, shall apply in writing on the appropriate form to the Marina and Yard Manager stating the period for which they wish to use the Marina berth.

7.5 Rental for Marina berths shall be as decided from time to time by the General Committee and shall be charged to the authorised occupants accounts on a monthly advance basis and will be credited to the account of the Licensee of that berth.

7.6 Licensees of Marina berths, including those berths retained by the Club, shall be charged an annual maintenance fee of $440 inclusive of GST and this maintenance fee will be credited to a separate Club account after deduction of operating and maintenance charges incurred in the normal operation of the Marina.

7.7 Any berth allocated to a Licensee may be changed at the discretion of the Marina and Yard Manager and or General Committee should the craft not be suitable according to the current Australian Standard or marina guidelines or as mutually agreed.

7.8 Occupants of Marina berths shall provide and maintain their own mooring lines to standards and specifications approved by the Marina and Yard Manager and or General Committee. Sandringham Yacht Club reserves the right to renew, replace or make good any mooring lines at the Marina berth occupants expense.

7.9 Occupants of Marina berths shall ensure that no loose ropes float or obstruct in any way the adjacent berths.

7.10 Craft in the Marina shall be moored in a manner that prevents any part of the craft or attachment thereto from projecting over the walkway. This requirement shall be met regardless of the wind direction.

7.11 The Marina walkways shall be kept clear of all gear, including dinghies, and trolleys shall be immediately returned to their proper place at the shore end of the Marina immediately after use. Equipment may be left temporarily on the
mooring fingers of the Marina only by prior agreement between the occupants of that mooring finger.

7.12 Equipment and fittings may only be permanently affixed to the Marina structure after prior approval from the Marina and Yard Manager and in accordance with guidelines established by the General Committee.

7.13 Occupants of Marina berths shall forthwith remove from the Marina to waste bins provided at the shore end of the Marina, all waste and rubbish brought upon or generated within the craft or the Marina.

7.14 Major repairs, painting and fitting of or to craft in the Marina is prohibited. Minor repairs, painting, mechanical adjustments and electrical work is permitted provided that no nuisance or interference with or danger to others using the Marina is caused by such work.

7.15 Toilets, oil, chemicals, spirits, inflammables and oily bilges shall not be discharged into the waters of the Marina.

7.16 Fish must not be cleaned in the Marina.

7.17 Laundry of any type or any item of a personal nature shall not be hung to dry out or air in public view aboard or from any craft in the Marina.

7.18 Living onboard vessels in the Marina for a period in excess of 3 days is not permitted and only with prior approval from the SYC office. Permanent residency on the Marina is prohibited.

7.19 Speed limits set for the Marina as displayed and/or advertised from time to time, shall be observed within, departing from, or when approaching the Marina.

7.20 Any collision or damage within or to any part of the Marina shall be reported to the SYC Office within 24 hours of the occurrence.

7.21 A Member who sells or otherwise disposes of a yacht allocated a Marina berth must remove that yacht within 30 days of such sale or disposal and inform the SYC Office immediately thereafter, unless the purchaser is a Member or has made application to join the Club as a Member and will be purchasing the Marina berth from the Licensee.

7.22 Boat owners wishing to use contractors to work on their boats whilst in the Marina shall use only contractors who have been authorised in accordance with Section 8 herein by the Club.
